JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the daily operations of the nursing unit and supervising the nursing personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Tasks

  1. Implements the policies and procedures of Credo Senior Living.
  2. Conducts, in cooperation with the Director, the initial and ongoing assessments of each resident, utilizing the nursing process and appropriate forms (FCS, NSA, HCP) to determine resident need.
  3. In cooperation with the Director, develops, implements, and updates Negotiated Service Agreement/Health Care Plan for each resident.
  4. Completes documentation in a timely manner, such as doctor appointments, new orders received, nursing notes, incident reports, etc.
  5. Administers or supervises the administration of medications and treatments to residents by checking the MAR and reviewing the medication administration practices of each CMA/LPN periodically.
  6. Practices the standard precautions of infection control and monitors staff and residents for compliance with local/state health code/infection control practices.
  7. Carries out and/or supervises the implementation of physician orders. Also documents refusal to follow physician orders and monitors situation.
  8. After consultation with Director, coordinates all medical services provided by Credo Senior Living, including, but not limited to, pharmacy, home health, services, and therapies.
  9. Documents and maintains records of all resident procedures, instructions, observations, and progress per documentation guidelines and policy and procedures.
  10. Initiates and maintains an on-call schedule 24 hours a day by carrying a phone when not in residence.
  11. Communicates resident information to the residence staff as indicated, through direct communication, staff communication, books, and/or staff meetings/in-services.
  12. Communicates with on-call nurses and documents all procedures, instructions, observations, etc.
  13. Reports changes in the condition of the resident or the family situation to the Director, health care provider, staff, and/or family as indicated.
  14. Coordinates resident services and needs; communicates, in cooperation with the Director, changes in service to direct care staff in a timely manner; and initiates changes on Functional Capacity Screen and Negotiated Service Agreement/Health Care Plan.
  15. Assists the Director in selecting medical staff, ordering medical supplies, and assessing the facility’s ability to meet each client’s needs on an ongoing basis while adhering to staffing and nursing budget guidelines.
  16. Assures all staff/residents have appropriate health screenings/physicals (as required by state law) and TB tests.
  17. Provides direct resident care as staffing and/or resident need indicates.
  18. Works scheduled shift, scheduled weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts (work the floor) when necessary (e.g., employee ill, no call/no show, short of staff).

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participates in the orientation of staff members, in-service programs, and medical staff evaluation, all to be done in communication with the Director.
