Job Summary:

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of transportation services for Healthcare, Assisted Living, and Independent Living residents. This includes scheduling, vehicle maintenance, driver coordination, and ensuring a safe and efficient transportation program that meets residents’ needs.

Essential Functions:

  1. Models the organization’s stated core values.
  2. Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as well as personnel matters as confidential information.
  3. Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures and maintains established standards and practices.
  4. Coordinate and schedule drivers and appointments for all levels of resident care.
  5. Ensure drivers have the necessary information (e.g., tickets, directions) and equipment (e.g., emergency supplies).
  6. Maintain accurate records of all appointments, activity trips, and campus shuttles via online calendars and physical documentation.
  7. Track and organize invoices, receipts, and transportation fees.
  8. Oversee vehicle maintenance, servicing, and cleanliness to ensure safety and compliance.
  9. Remain on-call for transportation-related emergencies.
  10. Train and evaluate drivers, ensuring competency through ongoing training and special in-service programs.
  11. Attend meetings as required and provide updates to staff.
  12. Operate vehicles as needed, adhering to all facility policies and safety regulations.
  13. Print and distribute daily schedules and provide weekly reports to relevant departments.
  14. Adapt to evolving transportation needs and challenges.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 Qualifications:

  1. Drivers operating the 23-passenger bus must have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and meet federal requirements, including a physical exam and random drug screenings.
  2. Drivers operating the 14-passenger bus must have a Department of Transportation (DOT) license and comply with federal physical exam and drug screening requirements.
  3. Proficiency in computer use is required.
  4. Ability to safely operate vans and buses in both urban and rural areas.
  5. Demonstrated ability to drive in a manner that ensures residents' safety and comfort.
  6. Commitment to treating residents with dignity and respect.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Assist residents with boarding and exiting vehicles as needed.
  2. Sit for extended periods while driving.
  3. Navigate varying traffic and weather conditions.
  4. Perform bending, lifting, and loading of small packages up to 50 lbs. multiple times per shift.
  5. Change vehicle tires if necessary.
