The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for providing personalized assistance to individuals in their homes or in assisted living facilities. This position requires a compassionate individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The (PCA) will help clients with basic day-to-day activities and work to ensure that the client’s physical and emotional needs are met 

Personal Care Assistant Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Provide assistance with personal care activities, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Prepare meals, clean, and do laundry for clients
  • Assist in transferring clients from bed to wheelchair, etc.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and recreational activities
  • Document daily activities, changes in physical and mental condition, and any other relevant information
  • Ensure that the client’s living environment is safe and secure
  • Monitor vital signs and provide medication reminders
  • Provide emotional support to clients and their families

Personal Care Assistant Requirements and Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a caregiving role preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be organized and able to multitask
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
