Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and develop programs based on residents’ interest.
  • Create a monthly activity calendar using computer software.
  • Build relationships with residents and families built on trust and compassion.
  • Communicate frequently with residents, families, and staff members regarding activities to encourage participation. 
  • Have a working knowledge of the activity resources and supplies available in the facility and maintain them through organization and care. 
  • Develop and keep other activity supplies, kits, and ideas available anytime for individuals or groups for interaction outside of the regularly scheduled calendar.  
  • Offer support and comfort to residents as needed. 
  • Participate in care planning.
  • Transport residents to and from activities as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Long-term care or activity experience preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with dementia or cognitive impairment preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Computer experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
