The Landscape and Grounds Supervisor maintains the grounds and exterior of the buildings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintains and actively promotes effective communication with all individuals.

Responsible for on-call services, as assigned.
Maintains all campus grounds and other properties as assigned guided by principles of cleanliness, safety and aesthetics. Removes garbage/debris from grounds, maintains/cleans the exteriors of buildings, outdoor structures and outdoor furniture, monitors/maintains sidewalks, parking lots, drives, lighting, etc. for safety concerns.
Plants, waters, fertilizes, weeds, deadheads/prunes and/or divides all bulbs, annuals, perennials, ornamental grasses, shrubs, trees and indoor plants as needed.
Prunes trees and shrubs in the correct season and manner appropriate for species/location, monitoring hazardous and dead trees/shrubs and performing/coordinating removal.
Installs/manages seasonal displays including seasonal flowers/plants, autumn displays, and holiday lighting.
Applies herbicide, fertilizer, other pesticides as needed; removes and/or treats with herbicide all unwanted vegetation such as weeds and invasive species.
Maintains all campus water features and storm water systems. Keeps detailed records of any maintenance or inspections.
Maintains turf on all campus grounds, including turf repair, seeding/over-seeding, aerating, dethatching, fertilizing, watering, mowing and edging/trimming.
Facilitates resident gardening on campus.
Responsible for on-call services as assigned. Performs snow removal on all campus grounds.
Maintains all campus grounds equipment to comply with applicable codes and regulations. Operates landscape equipment as needed to perform required tasks.
Provides daily work direction to the seasonal grounds employees.
Manages, oversees, coordinates, reviews and evaluates work performed by contractors and facilities services staff related to snow removal and winter weather response as well as work to the exterior of the buildings.
Maintains effective communication with residents/tenants, patients/clients and family members/personal representatives.

Will abide by all policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and complete other assignments as assigned.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
At least 18 years of age. High school degree required or equivalent.
3-4 years' experience with grounds related equipment, broad knowledge of horticulture or landscape plants, turf maintenance or any combination thereof.
Previous leadership experience (formal or informal) preferred.
Valid driver’s license and insurance.
Commitment to quality programs and services for the residents/patients/clients.
Excellent communications and human relation skills.
Ability to relate well to the residents/patients/clients, family members / personal representatives.
Ability to maintain and protect the confidentiality of information.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions and exhibit flexibility when needed.
Ability to understand & retain instruction, organize and delegate tasks.
Ability to perform minor carpentry, painting and use of hand and power tools including routine plumbing repairs and mechanical equipment repairs.
Ability to organize and supervise grounds staff, summer interns, volunteers and outside contractors.
