POSITION SUMMARY
Under general direction, but following defined policies and procedures, performs general maintenance and repairs of the hospital’s facilities and equipment. This job requires knowledge and skill in a variety of trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, general maintenance, and carpentry. Incumbents may have an accomplished skill in a specific area, but are required to have a basic knowledge of the other skills in order to assist and/or relieve other employees.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle including a valid Michigan Driver’s License and meet hospital’s requirement for insurance coverage. Ability to visually and mentally concentrate when reading and making repairs.
As an essential job function, due to continuously changing patient census/activity and staffing needs, must have the flexibility to work a varying schedule should the need arise, which may require working a varying shift, overtime (greater than 40 worked hours per week) and/or shift durations that exceed the assigned status for shift length and/or hours per week. May rotate shifts and is “on call” during assigned shift to perform emergency repairs to hospital facilities and equipment as requested.
