Schedule: Full-time | 72 hours per pay period | Monday-Friday | 8 am – 4:30 pm
Major Position Accountabilities:
A. Perform fitness assessments and develop appropriate fitness and wellness programs for older adults.
B. Conduct one-to-one exercise training for Fitness Center members.
C. Assess customer progress with program. Make referrals to therapy when appropriate.
D. Participate in periodic workshops in health and fitness areas.
E. Conduct group fitness classes for resident and community members of the Fitness Center.
F. Demonstrate professional and courteous conduct with all customers.
G. Assist Director of Fitness to create new fitness programs and fitness initiatives, as well as pilot programs.
H. Ensure the Fitness Center areas are clean and safe at all times.
I. Maintain a professional appearance adhering to the departmental dress code.
J. Provide accurate and timely documentation of services.
K. Communicate effectively with other disciplines, family members, physicians, and customers.
L. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, in-services, and reviewing professional publications.
M. Promote expansion of fitness programs across organization.
N. Present at professional conferences and workshops.
O. Follow policies and procedures for quality of life, person-centered care, and trauma informed care according to role specific responsibilities.
P. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Education: B.S. or B.A. in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or equivalent. Current BLS Certification required. ACSM, NSCA, NASM, ACE, SFA certification or equivalent nationally recognized certification required.
Required Experience: 2+ years as a fitness professional. Working knowledge of exercise contraindications and appropriate techniques to common medical issues such as joint issues, cardio-pulmonary disease, and metabolic disease.
Preferred Experience: Prior experience working with older adults. General knowledge of pharmacology.
