I. Job Summary

Responsible for transporting clients, as assigned from a designated pick-up site to a designated host setting and light maintenance of fleet inventory.

II. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
 
  • Transport clients as necessary in an agency vehicle
  • Assist with boarding and departure as necessary for clients
  • Informs team members of any significant changes to client’s behaviors
  • Keep required vehicle logs; prepares and writes reports.
  • Provides light operator maintenance, taking the vehicle for gas and oil changes, recording usage, expenses, etc.
  • Completes daily vehicle safety checks and inspections.
  • Operate within the guidelines of the Employee Handbook, program’s Operation Manual and agency policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

III. Basic Competencies

Education and Experience:   
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Commercial driving experience required.

Skills and Abilities Needed:
  • Must be congenial, patient and reliable with the ability to relate to staff and clients and gain their respect and confidence.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public. 
  • Attend agency trainings and maintain necessary certifications as determined by the agency.
  • Maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license, automobile liability insurance coverage and an excellent driving record that allows the operation of an agency vehicle to transport clients as needed.
