Director of Life Enrichment

Salary: $52,000 - $55,000/year
Reports to: Vice President of Operations
Location: Wesley Willows Campus - Rockford, IL
Direct Reports: Life Enrichment Team, Memory Wellness Team
Summary:
The Director of Life Enrichment will be responsible for the overall administration, management, and operations of the Life Enrichment/Activity Department which provides services to all community campuses, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Sheltered Care Living, and Skilled Nursing care. The Director will plan, organize, budget, and control the services provided to ensure the highest level of services with fiscal responsibility. Thus, contributing to the vision and strategic plan of the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership
- Member of the community �Leadership� team. Works collaboratively with the team to ensure success in meeting and exceeding community goals in operations, human resources, sales, and resident care.
- Responsible for department staff oversight, including hiring, training and development, counseling, performance evaluation, functional development, and disciplinary action.
- Ensures compliance with orientation, training, and ongoing education requirements of staff.
- Develops, follows, and enforces policies and procedures; ensures that policies, procedures, and processes are compliant with applicable State and Federal regulations. Incorporates standards/policies into all aspects of services, programs, meetings, and initiatives.
- Represents the Community in relationships with outside agencies, community services providers, and other healthcare providers.
- Responsible for protecting and advocating for resident rights.
- Work with the Vice President of Operations and Administrator to ensure compliance with all applicable State and Federal regulations, policies, and procedures, while providing quality services to the residents.
- Implements initiatives within the Community.
- Advances the employee relations strategy to build the right environment to increase employee engagement and remain �issue� free.
- Increases personal growth and development through formal and informal education programs.
Operations
- Monitors practices in the Communities to ensure consistency with current standards promulgated by the Community and appropriate local, State, and Federal regulatory bodies.
- Manages grievances and issues regarding care within the Communities.
- Identifies and reports deviations from safe practice/risk management issues.
- Adheres to policies and guidelines of regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA).
- Communicate with executive leadership resources regarding issues and as needed.
- Coordinates with other leadership team members on special events and activities.
- Serves on committees as defined and required by Community requirements.
- Serves as a representative of the community, as well as appropriate professional organizations.
- Develop positive relationships on behalf of Wesley Willows communities with the government regulators, families, area healthcare community, and the community at large.
Financial
- Participates in the development of and monitors the operating budgets, capital expenditures, and reporting systems for the Communities.
- Reviews budget monthly; reports and explains variances.
- Continuously monitors and evaluates staffing ratios and patterns and recommends appropriate staffing levels to meet business demands.
- Executes written agreements with consultants and other providers related to the operation of the department; monitors the services provided to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and cost-efficiency standards.

- Must possess knowledge of regulatory compliance and Continuing Care Retirement Community operations.
- Superior oral and written communication skills and ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficient in the use of computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be sensitive to the needs of older adults and enjoy working with a senior population.
Minimum Education/Skills/Experience/Credentials:
- Education: Bachelor�s Degree from an accredited institution is desired.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of progressive leadership experience and management roles in a senior living community is desired. Experience working with the geriatric population.
- Licensure / Certification, where required: Licensed Activity Director or the ability to achieve licensure within twelve months of employment.

Working Conditions:
- Complies with �on-call� requirements as applicable
- Available for Emergency calls
- Manager on Duty if activated
- Regular on-site physical presence is required
- Reliable, predictable, and punctual attendance, to provide effective management of staff, to provide timely service to internal and external customers, and to support uninterrupted business operations and continuous medical care to residents, is required.
Other federally regulated requirements:
- Must be willing to undergo pre-employment background check, including (MVR) moving vehicle records.
- Must have or be willing to receive the Flu-Shot Vaccine, and TB testing.
- Must be willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening.
- Must be willing to undergo biometric screening.
