Position Summary 

 

The Director of Dining Services oversees all aspects of the dining program within our communities, ensuring that it operates smoothly and efficiently while delivering high-quality food and service to residents and guests. This role involves a diverse set of responsibilities, including menu planning, nutrition, food safety compliance, budget management, staff supervision, customer experience, and event coordination. Essential Duties and Functions 

 

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to align the dining services program with WEL’s mission and goals in the community.  
  • Maintain and build revenue opportunities for the community. 
  • Identify and develop strategies for continuous improvement in service, quality and resident satisfaction through analyzing dining service metrics and resident feedback. 
  • Works with the Executive Director to develop and implement a comprehensive annual budget that assures the sound fiscal operation of the department with effective controls on expenditure and revenue.   
  • Oversees purchases of food and supplies from approved vendors within assigned budgets to ensure proper inventory levels.  
  • Conducts regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, food safety regulations, and WEL policies. 
  • Ensures food is received, stored, prepared, held and served in compliance with state and federal guidelines. 
  • Ensure community standards are met in accommodating food modifications, allergies, and special requests.  
  • Foster a culture of exceptional customer service amongst leadership. 
  • Provides timely communication to ensure inquiries and complaints are promptly addressed to ensure resident and guest satisfaction.  
  • Ensure hands-on training in culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and plate presentation is provided to ensure consistent quality and taste. 
  • Establish recipes, menus, and guidelines for the department. 
  • Makes informed hiring decisions by ensuring candidates are the appropriate fit for the department from a technical, strategic and cultural standpoint.   
  • Coaches, models, and advocates all WEL initiatives   
  • Documents individual performance metrics, behaviors, discipline, and performance ratings and delivers feedback in an appropriate, courteous, and professional manner 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications include: 

  • 5+ years of experience in food service, healthcare, or hospitality management  
  • Long Term Care or Health Care dining services experience a plus.  

 

Education:

  • Minimum Associates level degree in Culinary, Hotel/Restaurant management, or certified graduate of accredited culinary educational institution.
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality or equivalent in Dining Services is preferred. 

 

Licensure/Certification:

  • Certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) strongly preferred. SERV Safe Food Service Manager certification .
